Register for the 2026 Space Colony Competition

@Everyone Registration is open for the 2026 Space Colony Competition, and we’d love for you to join us!

This international challenge invites teams of up to six elementary or middle school students to design and build a sustainable space colony using recycled materials. Last year, 94 teams from around the world participated,

and we’re excited to welcome even more this year.

Students explore real-world space challenges, apply STEM concepts, and share their creativity on a global stage. Every team receives a personalized video of feedback from a STEM professional—which may include NASA Mission Control specialists, engineers, or computer scientists.

Supplies

Since many of the supplies (card stock, tape, cups, straws) are easily available, has anyone just purchased the motors and the batteries elsewhere? The pre-made kits from Pitsco are great and not that expensive - unless you have little/no funding.

We have Ozobots and Spheros, it seems that these might be able to be incororated in the rover mission. Has anyone tried this?
